Read more about the early days of Federal Electric Sign ( now Federal Heath Sign ) and illuminated signs in a [recently published article](https://federalheath.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/federal_electric_sectional_signs.pdf) in the *Journal of the Society for Commercial Archaeology*  by Debra Jane Seltzer

"Dashing lights, flashing lights high above the street,

Tell me where to go to play, tell me what to eat,

Tell me where to buy my gas, where to own a home,

Tell me where to go away, after I have come.

If my path is wandering, if, in fact, I slip,

If I fail to speak to you, words upon my lip,

I am merely up-to-date, lofty plans in sight;

or the things to do by day, read the signs at night."

Daphne Greene, *The Edison Monthly*, January 1921
